Myotherapy
Myotherapists are qualified to apply care in the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phases of therapy in order to restore and maintain the normal and pain free function of the soft tissues (muscles, tendon, ligaments and fascia) of the human body.
They are concerned with the individual, carefully taking into consideration environmental, emotional and/or biomechanical factors that are large contributors to one’s symptoms. Although Myotherapists predominately work to address soft tissue dysfunction or injury, our Myotherapists are additionally trained to mobilise and restore function of the joints and skeletal structures.
During your appointment, our Myotherapist may employ the following to address pain or restrictions:
- Massage (deep, remedial and/or light myofascial release)
- Trigger Point Therapy
- Dry Needling (using ultra fine needles in specifically isolated areas)
- Cupping
- Myofascial stretching
- Joint mobilisation and Muscle Energy Technique (MET)
What conditions can we successfully treat with Myotherapy?
- Headache and migraine
- Spinal pain
- Peripheral Joint Pain (i.e., shoulder, knee, hip)
- Sports Injuries
- TMJ – Jaw related problems
- Chronic Overuse Injuries
- Pain associated with Pregnancy
